Background Information 
Professional profile:
Dr Issa qualified from medical school in 1986 and undertook pre-specialist training at Manchester hospitals. Having completed his membership of the Royal College of Physicians in July 1992, Dr Issa commenced specialist training at the University Hospital of Southampton. He later moved to Cardiff to undertake research in neuroendocrinology, which enabled him to complete his doctorate degree. He trained as a senior registrar for two years and was exposed to all specialist aspects of endocrinology and diabetes.

He was appointed as a consultant physician/endocrinologist at North Manchester General Hospital in 1998. Dr Issa has developed the endocrine services at this hospital and has updated its guidelines and protocols. Recently, Dr Issa has been appointed as a consultant physician and endocrinologist at South Manchester University Hospital Trust and as honorary consultant endocrinologist at Christie Hospital, Manchester.

Dr Issa's special interests lie in all aspects of endocrinology, obesity and diabetes.
