Andrology tests - including semen analysis and sperm count

The laboratory of London Fertility Centre (LFC) provides the following andrology services for men:

  • Semen analysis/assessment
  • Semen preparation and 24/48 hour semen culture
  • Semen freezing

During a routine semen analysis, the following are amongst the parameters that will be checked:

Sperm count - The number of sperm in million per ml in the semen sample
Sperm motility - The percentage of sperm in the sample that is actually moving
Sperm progression - How fast or slow the motile sperm is actually moving
Sperm morphology - The percentage of normal and abnormal sperm in the sample

Semen analysis results are usually available within 1 hour after the sample was produced and will be e-mailed to the patient upon request. To maintain confidentiality, results will only be given to the patient.

We accept all male patients who request a semen analysis or semen freeze and no referral is necessary.
