Mr Platt qualified from Bristol University Medical School and following his house-jobs, spent a year teaching anatomy. Mr Platt was on the Mersey training programme for orthopaedic surgery during which time he developed an interest in surgery of the foot and ankle.
Mr Platt took up a consultant post in 2005 on the Wirral where he deals almost exclusively with foot and ankle conditions. Mr Platt teaches regularly both nationally and internationally in the field of foot and ankle surgery. He is responsible for training junior doctors and supervises the foot fellowship within the department.
Mr Platt has published original research on foot and ankle conditions and develops ongoing research within the department. He is responsible for the care of diabetic feet within the trust and brings innovative techniques for the management of diabetic and neuropathic feet.
Mr Platt successfully treats patients with all types of foot problems from all walks of life including professional and amateur athletes.
Simon enjoys scuba diving, is a keen photographer and a very keen motorcyclist.
