I have been a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon since 1979 with current sessions in the regional centre for Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Aintree and also in the Paediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Unit at Alder Hey Children's Hospital with previous sessions at Broadgreen Hospital and Whiston Hospital. I am also an Honorary Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dental Surgery, University of Liverpool.My current interests relate to jaw and facial trauma (paediatrics and adult) and oral surgery together with orofacial pain and the medical and surgical management of temporomandibular joint disorders including the use of arthroscopy, cryotherapy and open articular surgery. I also have a specialised interest in medico-legal reports for solicitors and various organisations. I am also a recognised first tier expert on medico-legal matters, pertaining to the speciality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, by the Association of Personal Injuries Lawyers in Nottingham.
I am married with two children and three grandchildren. My daughter is a schoolteacher for under-11s while my son is currently a post-Ph.D. Research Worker in English Literature at Lancaster University.
