    Background Information
    Professional profile:

I graduated from Peshawer Pakistan and commenced the Specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Mersey deanery, UK since 1995.

I did two years of research in assisted conception (IVF) in Hewitt Centre Liverpool Women’s Hospital followed by subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and surgery in the same unit. This helped me gain an insight and expertise into assisted conception (IVF/ICSI), Andrology (specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of male reproductive organs, and sperm problems), Endometriosis, Paediatric & Adolescent gynaecology and Menstrual Dysfunction.

The research in the field of assisted conception culminated in the submission of my doctoral thesis and the award of an MD from Liverpool University. I was awarded the CCT followed by CCST in Reproductive medicine & surgery in 2007 by the Royal college of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London.

I have published widely on many aspects of gynaecology and reproductive medicine, and have presented as well as chaired many sessions both nationally and internationally on various aspects of my specialty.

Currently, I am working as a Consultant Gynaecologist and sub specialist in reproductive medicine and surgery in St. Mary’s Hospital Manchester, which is one of the largest IVF units in the UK.

My commitments include Infertility (male & female), IVF, as well as running the ovum and sperm donation programme. Since starting this post I have established the andrology services in full.

That includes a surgical sperm retrieval service, as well as independent male andrology and reproductive endocrinology clinics (male & female). All female fertility problems are managed in these clinics including those due to PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), endometriosis and pre and post cancer treatment. The male clinics are dedicated to all aspects of fertility problems including obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermias, testicular cancer and post chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients.

Many male patients with erectile dysfunction problems are also managed. Being the only tertiary centre in the region these clinics manage referrals not only from within the regional hospital and primary care trust, but also referrals from outside the region.

    Personal profile:

I am married to an anaesthetist and have three children. I thoroughly enjoy cooking and find it very relaxing. I regularly get pressurised in a very nice and subtle way to organise dinners for colleagues and friends and I love to invite them.

Furthermore, it has been suggested that if not for the medical profession, I would have been competing with Delia Smith and Madhur Jaffery.

I am fluent in speaking the Pakistani / Afghanistan/ Indian  languages which are Urdu, Pushto, Punjabi and Hindi respectively. I share my husband’s interest on fast cars which has taken us on many long journeys.
