Professor Stefan C. Zygmunt, is a nationally and internationally well recognised Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon with a broad clinical experience. He has been a Consultant Neurosurgeon since 1990. In 1995 he was appointed Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and Honorary Lecturer to the University of Birmingham.
He has a unique background in both orthopaedics and neurosurgery holding specialist qualifications in both specialities. He underwent specialist training in Sweden and the U.K. In Sweden he trained at the University Hospital in Lund and in the U.K. at WESSEX Neurological Centre in Southampton. His specialist training was completed in 1986. He completed his higher postgraduate medical degree at the University of Lund in where granted by HRH King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden he was appointedd Doctor of Philosophy (PH.D) 1992.
His research is frequently referred to in text books and scientific articles. In recognition of his research he was appointed associate Professor or Neurosurgery 1995.
His expertise in dealing with patients suffering with neck pain, arm pain, mechanical back pain, low back pain, leg pain (sciatica), degenerative spinal conditions such as slipped discs is well known. He also holds a broad expertise in cerebrovascular conditions, cerebral aneurysm surgery and treatment of AVM's.
