Mr. Shivanand S Geeranavar MS, FRCS(Ed), FRCS(Glas), MCh(Orth), FRCSEd (Orth), Consultant Orthopaedic and Sports Injury surgeon has a special interest in knee and shoulder surgery. His NHS practice is at Sandwell West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, Birmingham, West Midlands.
Mr. Geeranavar trained in South East Thames Orthopaedic training scheme, Guys, St Thomas¿s and Kings College associated hospitals with further training at University of Liverpool. He passed the FRCS(Ed) and FRCS (Glas) exam in 1979 and M Ch Orthopaedics, Liverpool in 1982 and FRCS Ed Orthopaedics in 1983. He worked as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon from 1984 to 1992 overseas. He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sandwell West Birmingham Hospitals, West Midlands in 1993
From 1984 to 1992, he took the opportunity to visit several international centres and underwent training in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints. He has maintained this interest. He has performed hundreds of total hip and total knee replacements, anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, and multi-ligament reconstructions of knee. Currently he performs minimal invasive total hip, total knee and shoulder replacements. He also performs a full range of arthroscopic shoulder operations, shoulder stabilisations, rotator cuff repairs and reconstructive surgery for fractures around the shoulder.
Mr. Geeranavar regularly attends the American Academy meetings and British British Orthopaedic Association, British Society of the Knee and Shoulder surgery meetings. He has a flexible appointment system focused on patient needs and able to offer very high quality care. He works with excellent group of physiotherapists and rehabilitation team.
