Mr. James Arbuthnot is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and specialist in knee surgery. He was appointed in 2009 to his current post at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust and is based at Solihull and Good Hope Hospitals.Mr. Arbuthnot qualified from the University of Liverpool in 1997 and undertook his basic surgical training in Merseyside. He then spent a year as clinical knee fellow to Associate Professor Mike McNicholas in North Cheshire Hospitals, Warrington before achieving a place on the 6-year Specialist Registrar Training Scheme in Birmingham and Warwick. In 2009 he was awarded the certificate of completion of training and admitted to the specialist register.
He has undertaken the following sub-specialty fellowships:-Lower limb joint replacement and sports knee injuries – Victoria, AustraliaLower limb joint replacement – Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, UKKnee replacement, revision knee replacement and soft tissue knee reconstruction – Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit, Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre, UKHe has a particular interest in the surgical treatment of knee injuries and early knee arthritis. He also maintains a commitment to primary hip replacement.
