Mr Gurminder Matheru graduated from Liverpool University in 1991 and has been practising obstetrics and gynaecology since 1993. Mr Matheru has been a consultant in obstetrics & gynaecology at Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust since april 2004 and has been in private practice since August 2004. He carried out his research in urinary incontinence in Leicester and his specialist training in the South Trent Region. Additional time spent in other centres of excellence in London and Newcastle has given him the opportunity to work with internationally recognised surgeons.
In addition to providing a general gynaecology service, his main interests are the management of urinary incontinence, bladder dysfunction and uterovaginal prolapse. Urogynaecology is an exciting subspecialty in which we have seen many new developments in the last decade, including vaginal meshes, treatments for stress incontinence, Botox injections for an overactive bladder to mention just a few. Spire Parkway Hospital and Spire Little Aston Hospital both have the facilities to offer both established as well as these new treatments.
Mr Matheru also offers treatment to women with general gynaecological problems, such as menstrual disorders, fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis and menopausal problems.
Mr Gurminder Matharu is married to Emma and they have two boys, Charlie and Toby. He enjoys cooking, listening to music, travel, golf but most of all he enjoys making their boys laugh!
