Dr Balagopal has been working since 1996 as a consultant general physician with an interest in respiratory medicine at the Manor Hospital and lead a busy respiratory unit. He completed his training in respiratory medicine at Hull and the North West Lung Centre in Manchester. 
Dr Balagopal also undertook research for two years at Christie Hospital in Manchester. He is a very competent respiratory physician capable of doing brochoscopy transbronchial biopsy and managing a variety of respiratory conditions both acute and chronic. Dr Balagopal is particularly interested in the diagnosis and management of lung cancer and tuberculosis, and the diagnosis of occupational related diseases. 
He keeps himself well informed by attending national and international conferences.

Dr Balagopal is a lively, easy going character with interests in sports, music and politics. He is a member of a variety of cultural associations. He loves to debate on various day to day political issues, both nationally and internationally. Dr Balagopal play's badminton, tennis and hockey and relaxes by listening to classical and light vocal Indian music.
