    Background Information
    Professional profile:
Dr Henry's career in medicine started with a Senior House Officer position in a prestigious military hospital in Cairo. Later he became a Senior House Office in Minya, his hometown. Both positions included casualty, acute medical emergencies, cardiology, chest diseases, gastroenterology, endocrinology and tropical medicine.

In addition to this Dr Henry was involved in a lot of charity work in slums and rural areas with the Jesuits, who provided free medical care for the poor, elderly and disabled.

His first post in the UK was at Pontefract General Infirmary in 1987 where he gained considerable experience in managing acutely ill patients.

Since then Dr Henry has worked at a number of hospitals such as Birmingham City Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospital Birmingham, New Cross Hospital and as Consultant Physician at the George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton. He is presently Consultant Physician at Good Hope Hospital NHS Trust, Sutton Coldfield.

Throughout his career he has specialised in geriatric care and has been heavily involved in stroke medicine and has set up and managed specialist clinics within this field.

Dr Henry is particularly interested in teaching and has continuously supported the educational development of both under and postgraduate medical students. Posts held include Associate Tutor of the Royal College of Physicians and Clinical Teacher at the Leicester-Warwick Medical School.

Research interest focuses on the non-invasive and non-pharmacological rehabilitation of stroke patients, one particular study having been published in the Lancet.
