Dr Cleasby qualified from Birmingham University Medical School in 1992 with Honours and a first class BSc in Physiology. House Officer and Senior Officer posts were performed at Good Hope Hospital and in South Birmingham. After obtaining his membership of Royal College of Physicians, He started radiological training on the West Midlands Training Scheme. Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists was obtained in 1998. Dr Cleasby commenced as a consultant at Good Hope Hospital in October 2000, in general radiology, including ultrasound, screening, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and intervention.

Dr Cleasby is married to Maria, a nursing sister at Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital. They have two children: James and Amelia. Interests outside medicine include motorsport, driving his Caterham 7 at sprints and track days, playing the drums and travel.
