    Dr Matthew Lewis is a Consultant in General Medicine and Gastroenterology, specialising in diseases of the gut, pancreas and liver. He sees patients with a wide range of symptoms, including indigestion, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, rectal bleeding and jaundice.
     
    His training was in Manchester, where he was awarded an MD for a thesis on Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and he subsequently moved to the West Midlands in 2002 to take up the post of Consultant in General Medicine and Gastroenterology at City Hospital, Dudley Road, Birmingham.
     
    Dr Lewis' qualifications include BSc in Experimental Immunology and Oncology, MBChB (medical degree) and MD (higher medical degree). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and is accredited as a colonoscopist for the bowel cancer screening programme.
