Dr Jon Goulding is a friendly, enthusiastic consultant, passionate about the specialty of dermatology, and committed to offering the best possible service to patients and GPs. He trained at Edinburgh and Oxford Universities, and decided to pursue a career in dermatology early in clinical training. After qualification he deliberately sampled a wide range of medical specialties, from general practice to intensive care medicine, to ensure a broad perspective before specialising.
Specialist dermatology training was undertaken in several departments in the West Midlands and London, yielding two completed research projects, numerous peer-reviewed publications, presentations to specialist societies, and regional and national prizes.
Work-related interests include all aspects of general dermatology, in particular inflammatory dermatoses (rashes), as well as special interests in male genital skin disease and psychocutaneous medicine. He feels comfortable helping patients with complex skin disorders, but equally considers no skin problem to be too small.
Medical education has always been a great passion. Dr Goulding spent three years as a Junior Research Fellow at New College, Oxford University, with a remit to provide teaching for all clinical medical students in the college. He now coordinates all postgraduate teaching activities in his hospital department, and is in the process of completing a Masters degree in medical education (MMedEd) at Warwick University.
