Dr Francis trained in neurology at the National Hospital, Queen Square and Guy's Hospital, London. His PhD was awarded by the University of London following research on the immunogenetics of multiple sclerosis at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square. He has been a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians since 1996 and has held his current posts in Birmingham since 1990. Dr Francis has contributed to numerous publications and book chapters, and has had several articles published on multiple sclerosis. He has also been the principal investigator for clinical trials involving Interferon-beta, Copaxone and other therapeutic agents at the multiple sclerosis research clinic in Birmingham.
Dr Francis has over 25 years of clinical neurology experience and subspecialty training in Neurophysiology, he is able to assess all common, and uncommon, neurological problems from initial consultation, through personal neurophysiological evaluation, to diagnosis and treatment without involving other specialists.
Dr Francis lives in Central Birmingham. Him and his wife are regular patrons of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera and friends of the Hippodrome Theatre.
