Little Aston School has had a healthy kickstart to 2010 from Spire Little Aston Hospital.
The hospital invited children from the school to submit drawings on the theme of staying fit and healthy throughout the year to illustrate their official calendar.

Given recent Government initiatives to promote health and wellbeing, part of the incentive behind the art initiative was to encourage children think about what it means to be fit and healthy and how they would represent this in artwork.
Drawings were chosen to represent a range of activities and have been used to produce striking A4 and A5 format calendars for Spire Little Aston Hospital for distribution to GPs and other health professionals throughout the Sutton Coldfield area.
In addition, Spire produced and donated 500 calendars to the school to sell for school funds. Mrs Pearce, Head Teacher of Little Aston Primary School said “It is important to encourage children to take an interest in healthy living; this competition did just that. The calendars produced by the hospital were of a very high quality and the children thoroughly enjoyed selling the calendars to raise money for the school. We have raised nearly £300 so far and will put the money towards a large interactive computer screen for the school hall, which will benefit all of the children.”
Ruth Paulin, Hospital Director at Spire Little Aston Hospital said: “It has been an enjoyable and very worthwhile project for us. It has helped us to build links with the local community, as well as impart a message to younger children about what it means to be fit and healthy.”
