Professional profile:
Mr Banerjee trained in ophthalmology in Aylesbury and Birmingham. Subsequently he performed a fellowship in vitreo retinal surgery for one year in Birmingham followed by a further fellowship in both medical and surgical retinal diseases in Toronto.
In his general ophthalmic practice he performs small incision cataract surgery (phakoemulsifcation) as well as treating glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. In Mr Banerjee's retinal clinic he manages patients with ARMD, macular hole, retinal detachment and complicated cataracts. 90% of his retinal surgery is performed under a local anaesthetic.
