I was born in Birmingham and went to King Edward VI Grammar School Aston. Having spent too much time playing the guitar and drinking beer I did not achieve the necessary ‘A’-levels to go to medical school. I therefore studied Electronics with Medical Instrumentation at Sussex University where I obtained a 2:1 with which St George's Hospital Medical School in London kindly accepted me. I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Leicester since 1998.
