    Following specialist trianing in stomach oesophageal surger, David Bowrey was appointed as consultant to Leicester Royal Infirmary in 2006. David's focus on this area was honed by fellowships in Los Angeles and Newcastle Upon Tyne. He has experience of over three hundred stomach and oesophageal operations, and around one thousand laparoscopic operations. He has published widely in this field of surgery, with a number of book chapters and peer-reviewed articles.

    David is outnumbered three to one by females in his household, so he enjoys taking time out to walk Archie, his Weimaraner. He has a penchant for France, espicially the Loire valley with its fine wines and ambience. He particularly enjoys seafood (mussels in beer) having grown up in Belgium. In an attempt to arrrest the ageing process, he enjoys running, cycling, skiing and his garden.
