Baljit Singh was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University Hospitals Leicester in 2009. He qualified in medicine in 1992 from Oxford University having obtained a first class honours degreee in physiological sciences.
Baljit undertook basic training in Nottingham, Leicester and became a specialist surgical registrar in the Oxford region. He was appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in the Nuffield Department of Surgery, Oxford University where he also held the post of Surgeon-Scientist. Baljit has a strong academic background having been awarded a PhD (DPhil) from Oxford University in 2004.
In 2008 he became an International Guest Scholar of the American College of Surgeons. This is a highly competitive award given to only ten surgeons world wide each year. He has gained laparoscopic colorectal experience in Europe (Netherlands), USA and Japan.
Mr Singh enjoys playing squash and football.
