Miss Akkad graduated in Germany in 1990, but undertook all her postgraduate training in the UK, working in Trent since 1992. She was appointed a Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Leicester/Leicester Royal Infirmary in 2000, followed by an appointment as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Leicester Royal Infirmary in 2005. Miss Akkad holds a doctorate in Medicine from both the University of Saarland, Germany, as well as the University of Leicester.
