    Dr Friedman completed his medical training in London. He had further experience in London before training in Psychiatry in Oxford. He subsequently was a Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Nottingham before taking up his Consultant post in psychiatry in Leicester 1990. He has chaired and served on a number of committees at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, post secretary of the International Society for Post Natal Mental Illness and currently Deputy Head for the Midlands Mental Health Research Network.
