Professional profile:
Dr Burd graduated from the Leicester University Medical School in 1990 and subsequently completed his general professional training in internal medicine before entering higher specialist training in dermatology.
Dr Burd spent one year as a post membership SHO in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, before moving to Leeds as a registrar. While at Leeds, Dr Burd gained particular experience in managing acne and also in the use of lasers in treating cutaneous disorders.
In 1997, Dr Burd moved to Leicester as a specialist registrar to complete his training. He has developed a special interest in dermatological surgery, particularly with reference to the management of skin cancer.

In February 2000, Dr Burd was appointed as a consultant dermatologist at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby. However, later that year he was offered the opportunity of returning to Leicester as a consultant with a special interest in dermatological surgery and oncology. Dr Burd also has responsibility for the laser service in Leicestershire.
Personal profile:
Dr Burd is married and lives in Leicestershire with his wife Eileen and three young daughters Molly, Nettie and Patsy. He also enjoys fine wine and food when family duties allow!
