    Dr Richard Robinson qualified from St Mary's Hospital in London in 1989. He trained in general internal medicine in Cardiff and Bristol before being appointed as a registrar in gastroenterology in Leicester in 1992. His major research interest is osteoporosis in patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn¿s disease and he completed his MD on the aetiology and treatment of bone loss in these patients. He was awarded a British Digestive Foundation Travelling Fellowship in 1996 and spent time working in Lyon and Paris. Dr Robinson is a general luminal gastroenterologist with particular interests in inflammatory bowel disease, ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) and therapeutic endoscopy. He has established an endoscopy training centre at the Leicester General Hospital and runs courses in basic endoscopy and colonoscopy.
    Personal profile:
    Dr Robinson has two young children, Ben and Maddie, who take up most of his spare time and money. Although he no longer plays, he is a rugby enthusiast and still enjoys keeping fit. Other interests include sailing, occasional golf and socialising with friends.
