I trained in haematology in Manchester and have been a Consultant Haematologist since 2002. I moved to Leicester in 2005 and am currently Head of Service at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

I have a specialist interest in: Plasma cell dyscrasia such as Myeloma and Amyloidosis.

General haematology, including disorders such as: anaemia (low haemoglobin), high haemoglobin (polycythaemia), low and high white cell counts, iron overload (haemochromatosis and high and low platelets.

Immune Haematology such as Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP), Auto Immune Haemolytic Anaemia (AIHA) and Acute Interstitial Nephritis (AIN).

Myeloproliferative Neoplasms/Disorders (MPD), PV, ET, MF.

I am actively involved in research and am principal/investigator in many commercial and National Cancer Research Network studies and feel passionately about the development and use of database records in haematological disorders as they provide a source of invaluable information for research purposes.
