    After qualifying in Dublin in 1978, Dr Khoosal trained as a psychiatrist in Oxford before embarking on higher training in Leeds. He has been a consultant psychiatrist since 1985. He believes in patients participating fully in their treatment plans through information, care plans and cognitive counselling techniques. He considers that a holistic approach offers the best prospect of recovery for people with mental health problems.

    Dr Khoosal's spare time is spent in assisting voluntary organisations specialising in mental health, developing counselling skills and thus helping the community.
