After qualifying in 1989 Dr Moorthy underwent a structured postgraduate training in general medicine for three years. He later went on to train in Rheumatology at Manchester, Wrightington, Northampton and Leicester. Dr Moorthy also completed a part time postgraduate MSc course in Clinical Rheumatology at University of Manchester.
During his training Dr Moorthy has won a travelling fellowship from The British society for Rheumatology and a travel bursary from the European Rheumatology Society EULAR.
He has developed a special interest in ultrasound in Rheumatology and undergone training at the University of Ancona, Italy under Prof W Grssi.
Dr Moorthy also treats children with arthritis.
Dr Moorthy is married with two children. His wife is a computer programmer and he enjoys classical music, playing cricket and badminton. Dr Moorthy is fluent in two south Indian dialects, Tamil and Malayalam.
