Judith qualified as a physiotherapist in Newcastle. She moved to Leeds to work in the Sports Injury Clinic at St James’s.
Judith worked in the NHS for 10 years specialising in a variety of areas including obstetric and gynaecology, orthopaedics and also in the cardio-thoracic unit at Killingbeck Hospital. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiac Physiotherapy from Caledonian University.
Sharon qualified in 1996 with a BSC (Hons) degree in physiotherapy and started her career in the NHS before moving to Spire Leeds Hospital. Sharon enjoys the mix of specialist clinical work and team management. She has a broad base of experience, treating musculoskeletal problems of all major joints and has studied at masters level.
Sharon is a clinical specialist in the area of breast cancer and breast surgery. She also has a keen interest in other shoulder conditions.
After qualifying from the University of Nottingham in 2000, Michelle worked for the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and the Leeds PCT for over five years gaining experience in all areas, specialising in musculoskeletal work. During this time Michelle also studied to become a Pilates Instructor.
Michelle worked in a private sports injury clinic in central Wellington, New Zealand for a year. On returning to the UK, she began working in a busy private practice in Leeds and spent two years splitting her time between working at a city centre sports club and at the NHS walk in centre in Leeds before joining Spire.
Jamie has over 10 Years musculoskeletal and orthopaedic experience after qualifying as a physiotherapist from the University of West of England.
Jamie has been working in private practice for six years and worked in the NHS prior to this. He worked for some time as the Physiotherapy Manager at Spire Bristol Hospital where he worked closely with orthopaedic consultants when carrying out ESP (Extended Scope Practitioner) training.
David has been part of the out patient team at Spire Leeds since 2004 having previously worked as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist within the Leeds NHS Trust.
David has extensive experience working with lower limb rehabilitation and has previously worked with elite football and rugby teams. He is also a member of the Acupuncture Association (AACP).
David also offers a specialist ergonomic service which includes office and car based assessments.
Jane graduated in 1986 and has worked in a variety of outpatient clinics over the past 20 years. Jane has a special interest in women’s health, specialising in various continence problems. Jane has worked at this hospital for seven years and treats a varied caseload.
Jane is also a member of the Acupuncture Association for Chartered Physiotherapists.
Carol graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1999 and worked for two years at Pinderfields and Pontefract NHS Trust. She then moved to the Leeds Trust specialising in musculoskeletal outpatients before starting work at this hospital in 2002.
Carol has a specific interest in sports medicine, having worked at Castleford Tigers Rugby League Club for several years and is also studying for an MSc at Sheffield Hallam University in this area of Physiotherapy.
Rachel qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1997 and has been working at Spire Leeds Hospital since 2003. She works mainly on the wards treating inpatients who have had surgery. Rachel also has experience in Cardiothoracics (heart and lung surgery) and respiratory problems (chest problems).
Rachel takes a special interest in rehabilitating people following open heart surgery. She also treats people who have existing or new diagnosed respiratory conditions.
Julia qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1998. She has been working at this hospital since October 2004.
Julia is predominantly based on the ward and has a special interest in the treatment of patients who have undergone orthopaedic surgery. In addition she follows some of these patients up in the outpatient department on their return visits.
Julia has developed classes for patients following hip and knee replacement surgery.
Carla came to Spire Leeds as a newly qualified physiotherapist after training at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Carla works both on the wards and in outpatients. On the wards she deals with a variety of patients who are recovering from surgery. In outpatients she treats patients following hip and knee surgery.
Carla also takes an active role in the cardiac exercise classes.
Pauline has worked in the physiotherapy department since 2000 and over the past 10 years she has helped with the smooth and efficient running of the department.
Pauline works with the consultants as well as the physiotherapists helping to run any clinics that are held in Roundhay Hall.
Julie has worked at Spire Leeds Hospital since 2001 and has been based in day care, intensive care and on the wards as a receptionist and ward clerk.
After four years working in day care, Julie decided to change her role to become more involved with the clinical side and started in her current role as physiotherapy assistant in 2008.
In this post she assists all the physiotherapists with patients on the ward and in the gym.
