    Professor Anthony Axon qualified at Bart's, London University, in 1965 and moved to St Thomas' Hospital in 1968 for further postgraduate education. In 1975 he was appointed to The General Infirmary at Leeds as a general physician and consultant gastroenterologist, working in the NHS and privately in general medicine and gastroenterology. 

    Professor Axon retired from the NHS in 2006, but continued with his private practice until 2011.

    He now just undertakes medico-legal reports at Spire Leeds Hospital.

    Personal profile:
    Professor Anthony Axon is a Cornishman but attended Woodhouse Grove School, Bradford, from the age of nine until 18, returning to Yorkshire in 1975. He is married with three children and eight grandchildren. 

    Professor Axon enjoys gardening, reading and travel.
