Mr Sunjay Jain qualified from Guy's Hospital London in 1993 achieving MBBS with distinction and also first class honours in his intercalated BSc. Subsequent surgical training took place in the East Midlands with urological training in Nottingham, Derby and mainly Leicester where Mr Jain was a clinical lecturer in the academic department of urology. A strong research portfolio includes over 30 scientific papers and the award of an MD thesis. In 2002 Mr Sunjay Jain was awarded a Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Sunjay Jain was appointed to St James' Hospital in 2007 as a sub-specialist in uro-oncology. This involves diagnostic work-up of patients with suspected cancer and in particular radical surgery for prostate and bladder cancer. As well as cancer treatment Mr Sunjay Jain has an interest in the diagnosis of urinary symptoms and in particular the management of all diseases of prostate. He is committed to ensuring the delivery of a quality service and has taken up the role of lead clinician for audit and clinical governance within the urology department.

Personal profile:

Outside work Mr Sunjay Jain enjoys running and regularly takes part in 10k runs and half marathons for charity. He is trying to improve at golf and is a member of Cookridge Hall Golf Club. With his wife Mr Jain enjoys walking in the Dales, cooking and appreciating good wine.
