After graduating from Cambridge University and Manchester University, Mr Ian Botterill trained in Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds. He also visited a unit in Copenhagen that specialises in enhanced recovery after large bowel surgery.
Mr Botterill's specialist interests also include surgery for complex incisional hernias, intestinal complications of radiotherapy and pilonidal sinus disease. He conducts specialist clinics at LGI for teenagers who require follow-up into adulthood and patients with radiation enteritis.Mr Botterill is Chairman of the Leeds Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Team and Lead Clinician for emergency general surgery at the Leeds General Infirmary.
Mr Ian Botterill is married to Sarah who is a consultant anaesthetist in Leeds. They have three children. Mr Botterill enjoys golf - he is a member of Moortown Golf Club, skiing, backgammon, rugby and cricket.
