Mr David Jayne is a senior lecturer in surgery at the University of Leeds and a consultant general surgeon at Leeds General Infirmary. 

Mr Jayne has a specialist interest in laparoscopic and minimal access surgery and he is one of the few surgeons in the UK with experience in surgical robotics for abdominal disorders. Mr Jayne also has an interest in pelvic floor dysfunction, including the treatment of faecal incontinence and constipation. He has an active research interest in both these areas of surgical practice, which has led to the publication of many original research papers and two books. Mr Jayne sits on the Research & Audit Committee of the Association of Coloproctology of GB&I and is Clinical Editor of the International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery. Mr Jayne believes in using the knowledge he has gained from clinical research to benefit the patients he treats and takes pleasure in being able to offer his patients the latest and most effective treatments for their problems.
