    Mr Alan Paul is a consultant urologist at Spire Leeds Hospital and Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. He graduated MBChB (1985) and MD (1999) at the University of Edinburgh and spent five years in higher training in urology in Manchester (Intercollegiate Fellowship in Urology, 1998.)

    Mr Alan Paul's MD was in the molecular biology of neurotrophic hormones and APUD cells in benign and malignant prostate diseases and his current research interests are in renal and bladder cancer molecular and cellular biology. His clinical research has largely been in the investigation of haematuria (blood in the urine).

    Mr Paul has continued these interests and his surgical interests are in haematuria investigation, general urology and radical surgery for kidney, bladder and prostate cancers. He predominantly performs open surgery but is developing an interest in laparoscopic (“key-hole”) surgery for cancer of the urinary tract.
    Personal profile:
    Mr Alan Paul is married with twins and his main hobby is television-watching (Fimbles and Thomas the Tank Engine only!). He also enjoys cooking, reading, cycling and obsessive model making. In addition Mr Paul likes to watch Leeds United play football.
