Mr Adrian Joyce is a consultant urologist at St James' University Hospital and an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Leeds. His subspecialty interest is in endourology and minimally invasive surgical treatments, including laparoscopy, for disorders of the upper urinary tract.
Mr Joyce has a further subspecialty interest in male factor subfertility in conjunction with the Reproductive Medicine Unit here in Leeds.
After two years as a research fellow at Harvard, Boston, USA, Mr Joyce completed his urological training in London at King's College Hospital and the Institute of Urology before moving to Leeds. Mr Joyce was one of the pioneers in urological laparoscopy and as a consequence, he has a particular focus on skills training in endourology with a regular commitment to the European School of Urology (ESU) for hands on training.
Mr Joyce's research interests include the management and research of renal cell cancer in conjunction with Professor R Banks of CR (UK) and urinary stone disease, with over 60 publications in peer reviewed journals. Currently he is the elected President of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) from 2010, board member of the European Society for UroTechnology since 1999,and the UK Board member to the Endourological Society (USA) since 2005.
