Professional profile:

I am a gastrointestinal surgeon with a special interest in laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery for obesity (bariatric surgery). I am committed to the highest standards of professional care and to offer choices, share decisions and provide education and full support to my patients.

I offer an in-depth out patient consultation, detailed written information and close post-operative follow-up care. I trained in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery in London, Leeds and New York, USA and have been a consultant in upper gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery in Leeds since 2003.

I have a large-volume surgical practice that is focused on the oesophagus and stomach, with extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery. I am fully trained in laparoscopic bariatric surgery and am a core member of the bariatric multi-disciplinary team in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I perform laparoscopic gastric banding, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. I am a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Association of Laparoscopuc Surgeons of UK and am listed in Marquis' Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare (2006-2007).

Personal profile:

I am married to couple-relationship counsellor and we have one daughter. Outside of medicine, my main current ambition is to run a marathon next year!
