    I am a consultant physician in respiratory and general medicine. I trained in Nottingham, qualifying in 1990. My postgraduate training took place in Nottingham and the Yorkshire region. I have developed interests in COPD, lung cancer and sleep medicine. In 2001 I was awarded the UK COPD researcher of the year by the European Respiratory Society. I am currently lead physician for COPD and lung cancer at St James's University Hospital and also work for the Health and Safety Executive screening asbestos workers.
