Background Information

Professional profile:

I am a consultant cardiologist at York Hospital and an honorary consultant at the Yorkshire Heart Centre in Leeds, undertaking interventional procedures, having being appointed in March 2006.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham School of Medicine in 1993 returning to my native York to complete my medical training.

My specialist cardiology training was undertaken at the Yorkshire Heart Centre in Leeds where I gained extensive experience in angiography, device therapy and angioplasty. I obtained my PhD with a thesis entitled: "The genetic pre-determinants of premature coronary artery disease". I have written a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals and have presented at national and international conferences.

My clinical interests include interventional cardiology, cardiac arrhythmias, device therapy and familial coronary artery disease.

Personal profile:

Outside medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family and occasionally play rugby and cricket for York. I am also a playing member of the MCC.
