Whether working on the ward, or in the out patient department your role will be to care for patients compassionately and efficiently.
Under the supervision of qualified nurses you will carry out a range of technical clinical skills such as monitoring physiological observations, testing blood, ECG recording and applying simple dressings,. You may also provide personal care such as bathing. You will provide much appreciated support to staff and help patients and their families during worrying and sometimes distressing circumstances.
A key part of working at Spire is team working. As a Healthcare Assistant you will interact with a wide range of clinical colleagues in pharmacy, theatres, physiotherapy and radiography as well as nursing. You will work alongside colleagues in housekeeping, food service and administration. A key part of your learning will be to prioritise and manage demands from your colleagues and patients.

Our ideal person is proactive and positive, and has a passion for working with patients and helping them feel better. You may not have a healthcare background but you will have experience of planning work and acting under your own initiative, teamworking and either patient or customer handling experience. Training and Development

Your career prospects
You can consider studying for further healthcare qualifications or move across to theatres or outpatients where you can pursue a specialist career qualifying further and even progress to supervisory positions eventually.
