At IVF Scotland, you may choose to register for a free introductory mini consultation with a nurse and tour of facilities. Please note that this is not your first appointment with a consultant, which all patients must attend. Read more about free mini consultations here.
At your initial appointment with a consultant at IVF Scotland we will review and discuss any investigations already undertaken into your and your partner’s fertility. If you have attended other clinics, please bring a copy of all notes for your IVF Scotland consultant so that duplication of tests can be avoided.
Your consultant at the clinic will discuss with you whether any further investigations need to be undertaken, assess whether it is appropriate for you and your partner to undergo treatment, and discuss suitable treatment options. Find out more about treatment options IVF Scotland.
You may decide at this stage that counselling is required to assist you in making an appropriate decision about your treatment, and we can arrange for you to see an independent counsellor at the clinic. We will also seek your permission at this stage to contact your GP for the purposes of obtaining further relevant information about you and your partner’s medical history.
At this initial consultation you will receive in-depth information about the next stages in your proposed treatment, and we will be happy to answer any questions and address concerns that you might have. You will be given a follow-up appointment with a member of our nursing staff, to discuss your treatment in further detail, receive instructions on the administration of your fertility drugs, if appropriate, and an outline of the schedule of visits you will need to make to the clinic for your treatment programme.
