The hormone system of endocrinology affects every part of the body leading to a large array of clinical symptoms. The endocrinology that presents to me encompasses the entire spectrum of hormonal problems. Many of the referrals include those of traditional "bread and butter" thyroid,adrenal and pituitary problems. Increasingly, the complexity of hormonal action is being recognised,particularly with regard to female prob lems including polycystic ovarian disease and menstrual problems,hormone replacement therapy and fertility conditions. The broad nature of hormone disturbance means that many symptoms may have endocrine basis,including fatigue and mood disturbance,too much or too little hair,weight gain or loss,sweating,thirst and urinary problems.
