Dr Mohamed Abuzakouk is a consultant in Clinical Immunology and Allergy who specialises in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the immune system - whether the immune system is underactive (causing immunodeficiency) or over-active or mis-guided (causing allergy or autoimmunity).
He has lectured nationally and internationally on many aspects of immunolgy, particularly on the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases, immunodeficiency disorders and autoimmunity.
He participated in a number of international studies and has published widely on many aspects of immunological disease in quality journals. He established the first national register for patients with primary immunodeficiency in the Republic of Ireland. He was recently involved in establishing guidelines on the diagnosis of coeliac disease for NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, UK).
