Background Information 
Professional profile:
I qualified at University College Hospital London in 1976 and after Houseman and Senior Houseman jobs I worked as Resident Medical Officer at the National Heart Hospital, general medical registrar at St Thomas' and cardiology registrar posts at St Bartholomew's Hospital followed this. I went to the Wessex regional cardiac unit at Southampton in 1986 as senior registrar and spent a year at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston in 1988-9. I was appointed as senior consultant cardiologist in Hull in 1990 specialising in cardiac intervention (percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, valvuplasty, pericardial balloons and atrial septal defect closure devices)
I maintain an interest in valvula heart disease, echocardiography, pacing and nuclear medicine. I also provide a busy adult congenital heart disease service.

I have previously served as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at BUPA Hospital Hull and East and Riding, and was previously clinical co-ordinator for cardiology, and Royal College of Physicians district tutor. I remain involved in training as deputy chairman of the Yorkshire cardiology training group.
Personal profile:
I am married to Aedeen and have two young sons,Max and Leon. We live in Swanland and I claim to be a passive gardener. I am a sports fan and am honorary vice president at Hull Ionians RUFC,honorary regional cardiologist to the English Football Association.
