New Sound Shock Wave Therapy for Golfers Elbow, Tennis Elbow, Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Fascitis

November 2010

About Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT is an exciting new non-invasive procedure carried out in our out-patient department.  No anaesthetic, surgery or medication is required. A shock Wave is generated by a small hand piece this is delivered to the appropriate area of tissue via a compressed air impulse exerted by the hand piece.  The shock wave radiates out, extending to the entire area where pain occurs.

Usually no more than 3 to 4 sessions are needed, each session gives approximately 2000 impulses at 2.5 bars providing quick recovery and quick results for Achilles Tendonitis, Plantar Fascitis, Golfer elbow, Tennis elbow, Frozen Shoulder. If you have private medical insurance, speak to your insurance company as many consider this an effective treatment and your insurance may cover the cost.

If you wish to pay for your own treatment, we have fixed price packages available. Your GP can refer you for a consultation with a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon or one of our Chartered Physiotherapists.
