Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital held a charity Christmas cooking demonstration on Tuesday 8th December at the hospital. Staff were invited to attend the demonstration in which head chef, Richard Squire, prepared low budget but very tempting alternative Christmas dishes such as Turkey escalope with stuffing, stuffed mushrooms and chocolate and mint mousse.
Richard Squire, Head Chef at Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital, said “Due to the economic climate, in order to save money this Christmas we created some recipe ideas which will look very effective and still impress your family and friends but not cost a great deal of money.”
The event raised money for the Echoes foundation which is run by Claire Stockton. Claire works in the theatre department at Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital.
Claire commented: “Since finding out my son has a very rare genetic brain disorder at seven months of age I decided to set up a charity called The Echoes Foundation as I found myself thrown into a world of uncertainty and confusion. The Echoes Foundation currently supports over 90 families who have children with disabilities and that number grows every week. We aim to open a multi-purpose dedicated therapy centre and currently provide a multi sensory, parent resource, alternative therapy and pastoral support room. We also have a charity shop in Hull”.
