Professor Kuntal Chakravarty is a consultant rheumatologist at Spire Hartswood Hospital offering private rheumatology care for adults and children.
Professor Chakravarty has been a consultant in rheumatology since 1994 after finishing his training in Oxford and the East Anglian region. He conducts an educational and patient responsive service through his clinics at Spire Hartswood Hospital. Professor Chakravarty was elected Hon Secretary for the British Society for Rheumatology after working as Council member and member of the Clinical Affairs committee and External Relations Committe from 2000-2008.
He has been a Visiting and Host Examiner for the MRCP Royal College of Physicians of London for the last ten years and also a member of the Question Setting group for the Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE). Professor Chakravarty is also an examiner for the Professional and Linguistics Assessment Board (PLAB) conducted by the GMC and the undergraduate examination at Bart's and The London School of Medicine. He is an editorial board member of two major journals and reviews articles for more than a dozen journals in rheumatology.
Professor Chakravarty has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles and has contributed to chapters in the Oxford Text Book of Rheumatology, Oxford Hand Book of Investigations and the Text Book of Rheumatology (Klippel and Dieppe). He has developed national guidelines including Connective Tissue Guidelines published by ARMA. He has also contributed to self help booklets on vasculitis and rheumatoid arthritis published by LUPUS UK.
I am a keen cricketer and represented my university during my student life in India. I have played in several clubs in Oxford and Norwich.
