Specialises in

I have over 25 years experience in the field of paediatric speech and language therapy. My independent practice in Hertfordshire includes a caseload of children with a wide range of speech and language difficulties including phonological and motor speech disorders, language disorders, and children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. My role includes supporting both the children and their families with early intervention and liaison with other professionals involved. Therapy focuses on functional goals to meet each individual child's needs using a variety of therapeutic strategies.

I graduated from Sheffield University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Medical Science in Speech Science and have practised in the field of paediatrics since August 1986. Following two years as a generalist in paediatrics at Cambridge Health Authority, I worked as a specialist in physical disability in the same authority before joining the staff of the London Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy in 1990. I worked as a Senior Bobath Tutor and Head of Speech and Language Therapy until 2001 when I chose to focus on my own three children at home. Since then I have accumulated a wide ranging independent practice, whilst continuing links with the Bobath Centre and in postgraduate training through moderating the Postgraduate Dysphagia Course at University College London until 2014.

I have taught widely on the subject of therapy for children with Cerebral Palsy and my work is included in a number of text books on the subject.

My husband and I are involved in running a youth group at our local Church and I am trustee of the Kepplewray Centre in the Lake District where I also help to run an annual Youth Venture holiday. My hobbies include spending time with my three sons - trying to keep up with them in sailing boats or on the tennis court, and then recovering with some relaxing gardening, sewing, or musical pursuits.
