Background Information
Professional profile:
As a Medical Student I trained at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School in London before undertaking Basic Surgical Training at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals. Following a period of time in general surgery I joined the Institute of Urology, Higher Surgical Training Scheme, in Urology. I have spent time at a number of Regional Centres in and around London including time at the Institute of Urology. During this time I was appointed as Clinical Lecturer in Urological Cancer at Queen Mary Medical School, London where I developed a program to examine urological malignancies for both chromosomal translocations and the loss and gain of genomic material - in effect defining a genetic fingerprint for prostate cancer. I have undertaken Fellowship training in laparoscopy and developed an interest in pelvic oncology - including a laparoscopic cystectomy. I have a wide variety of clinical interests including the use of lasers - both holmium and green-light alike. I have taken an active role in both the Men's Health Forum and the Orchid Cancer Appeal.

I have been awarded the Urological Research Society Medal of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Bard Medal (from the British Association of Urological Surgeons) and the C.E. Alken Medal (International). I have written over 100 papers, books and abstracts and am the Deputy Editor of Urology News.
Personal profile:
I am married with a young daughter who more than occupies most of my spare time. Outside of work I am a member of the RSPB and a keen watercolour artist - although my work is not particularly sought after! I am a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and have an interest in the captive breeding program for seahorses as well as those programs designed to preserve their natural habitats - both at home and abroad.
