Mr. Gupta has received extensive training in general surgery both in the UK and overseas. He received his higher surgical training in general surgery in the Southeast Thames region with a significant part of training at the King's College Hospital, London. Prior to moving to this area Mr. Gupta worked as a Consultant Upper Gl and Laparoscopic surgeon at the St. George's hospital and Medical School at London.

Mr. Gupta is essentially a Gastro-Intestinal surgeon with special interest in Upper Gl surgery. This would especially include oesophageal and gastric cancer surgery. In addition he also routinely performs wide variety of surgical procedures for benign Upper Gl disorders. Lower Gl surgery also constitutes a significant part of his practice.
He also has special interest in Laparoscopis surgery and routinely performs various advanced laparoscopic procedures including laparoscopic anti-relux operations, laparoscopic bile duct explorations, laparoscopic hernia repair, laparoscopic appendectomy and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He also has regular endoscopic session in his NHS practice.

Being trained at the King's Hepatobiliary unit Mr. Gupta has extensive experience in the surgery of the Liver, Pancreas and the Biliary tract. His other interests include endocrine surgery, day surgery procedures and surgery for varicose veins.
