Mr Sharma's training has been varied in orthopaedic surgery, with a special emphasis on the reconstruction of hand and upper limb. This enables him to treat and manage sports injuries of the joints arthroscopically. He has trained extensively in the USA and UK, especially on upper limb (shoulder, elbow and hand).

Mr Sharma's special interests are in hand and upper limb (shoulder, elbow and wrist) surgery and joint replacements, nerve injury and associated reconstructive surgery, rheumatoid joint reconstruction and children's hand surgery.

Mr Sharma performs most of his procedures and repairs arthroscopically. This allows a more cosmetically appealing result and early recovery. He has recently started performing shoulder joint replacements for arthritis.

Mr Sharma is currently one of the few consultants performing elbow arthroscopies for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Elbow joint replacements are carried out for rheumatoid arthritis.

Mr Sharma has recently performed several wrist arthroscopies for ligament and arthritic problems with good results. He is currently one of the few consultants providing this service. He regularly treats wrist fractures (scaphoid non unions etc).

Mr Sharma does multiple joint arthroplasty for rheumatoid arthritis. Ligament and tendon problems are addressed through various day case procedures.

Mr Sharma provides a comprehensive upper limb service for arthritic problems, sports injuries and trauma using the latest available techniques.
