      Background Information
      Professional profile:
I trained in Glasgow, London and the United States. In Glasgow I was involved in research with Cannesburn the Centre for Plastic Surgery and at that time was involved in developing the anatomical basis of the groin flap and undertaking research into axial pattern flaps in general.

I was clinical instructor in Plastic Surgery at Duke University, North Carolina which is regarded by many as the premier training centre in the United States. That year I concentrated on cosmetic surgery and microsurgery.

I was a Christine Kleinert Fellow in hand surgery at Louiseville, Kentucky, which is also regarded as the premier hand surgery training centre in the world.

I then returned to London to complete my training at Mount Vernon Hospital where I was appointed consultant in 1980 and then appointed consultant at Great Ormond Street in 1988.

I was awarded 1st prize in the Resident Competition in the United States in 1979. I was also awarded Pulvertaft prize for hand surgery on my return to the UK.

I have been a consultant in practice for 24 years. My practice at Spire Hospitals Harpenden and Bushey centres around cosmetic surgery, the management of skin cancers and hand surgery. For children, I have access to Great Ormond Street Hospital where I am in consultant practice.

In the cosmetic field I have a particular interest in rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation surgery, including laser resurfacing and blepharoplasty.

I also undertake general cosmetic plastic surgery including breast surgery, liposuction, abdominoplasty and body re-contouring, as well as non-surgical rejuvenation procedures.

I have been invited as a Visiting Professor in Plastic Surgery to Australia, South Africa, Canada, as well as New York University, University of Louiseville, and Stanford University in the US.
      Personal profile:
I have published over 55 articles in Peer Review Journals on a wide variety of plastic surgical subjects including skin flap design, development of new skin flaps, dupuytrens contracture and congenital hand surgery as well as cosmetic surgery of the breasts.

I have also published 17 chapters in textbooks and has published 2 textbooks personally on the subject of hand surgery.

Founded RAFT (Reconstruction of Appearance and Function Trust) based at Mount Vernon. This is a postgraduate institution that funds research into plastic surgery and has been responsible for training 15% of the current plastic surgeons in the UK. Initially founded by Paul Smith, Patnick McNamee and Sir Robin Chichester-Clark.

The achievements of the unit include 6 Huntarian Professorships.
